Installation

The setup program

To install the Macrobond application please download and run the setup program and follow the installation instructions. This can be done both for the first installation and subsequent upgrades.
For security reasons you should download and run the setup program from an empty directory or use the command line installation as described below.

Download the setup program

In some environments, programs and installation files are blocked and cannot be downloaded or are prevented from running. In this case, the instruction below - for installation that is scripted or based on downloaded files - might be helpful.

Install from downloaded files

Download one of the ZIP files, extract, and then run the install.bat file in the extracted folder or use the MSI and MSP files in ZIP as parameters to the MsiExec program, which comes with Windows.

Please note that Windows Installer might want to access the local installation files again in the future, such as when doing automatic repairs, and it might be a good idea not to remove the extracted files.

Upgrading

There are new versions of the Macrobond application several times per year. Typically there are 3-4 major versions with new functionality and then maintenance releases as needed with minor improvements.
The best way to upgrade an existing installation is to select “Check for update” on the Help menu in the Macrobond application.
help: check for update
This might not work if you run in a locked-down environment. In that case you can follow the setup procedure above.

Command line

If you already have Macrobond installed you can upgrade it by executing one of the following commands.

msiexec /p https://download.macrobond.com/installation/mainapp/1.23.0.3853-release/Patch-1.29.115.0-release.x64.msp

Version numbers

Version numbers consist of three parts, where the first two numbers denote the major version and the third number is the revision. The revision number is always increased for each maintenance release, but may not be consecutive.

Legacy 32-bit versions

Macrobond 1.27.50 was the last release of the application where both 32 and 64-bit versions were provided. Users who see in Help > About that they have 32-bit version installed should uninstall Macrobond completely and install 64 bit version, based on the instructions above.
